I wish people would stop using this as an excuse, especially in the U.S 🙄. It happened 5 years ago and plenty of other countries have to deal with way worse shit. It's not like we're being bombed or dealing with multiple pandemics at a time. Not saying people aren't justified as a lot of shit is going on, but it really just feels like 1st world citizens using whatever excuse to act like entitled pricks to those in the healthcare industry. This might be a controversial opinion but I don't care 😭

I find it helpful to ask questions first: How often do you use dental floss? When was the last time you had your teeth cleaned? How frequently do you go to the dentist for cleanings and check ups. I act like my staff has not already asked these questions.

You feel thankful that she’s off your hands and into someone else’s. I have so many stories of crazy patients. For next time, document the HELL out of these encounters. I saw a lady to “polish off a sharp spot” on her front tooth (that I never touched). It was an hour long ordeal where she needed nitrous just to polish, and she kept pointing out shit that just wasn’t there. Had to take IO photos just to show her how crazy she was. My chart note for this “polish” was longer than any note I’ve written in years. This will absolutely cover your ass if she comes back and tries to sue you for “ruining” her teeth.
