Best way imo, short of hiring an agency, would be to manage it in-house. The key is to either hire or delegate someone high up as the "marketing" person. Maybe that's you, maybe not. They'd be in charge of the overall direction of everything, which sounds like what you're doing now.

There are some basic skills a person should have such as the willingness to learn. She was a paid intern and I felt that she wasn't gripping to the countless hours I spent into working with her. She just wasn't a good fit and that's okay.
