I accidentally unwinded my 35mm film in the wrong direction. However, the back of the camera didn’t open. I fixed the direction and got the film out. Will this damage my film?

I’m posting on here because of a camera I just recently purchased. The camera is a fujifilm zoom date 60ez. The problem is that on the display it flashes “E1.” Is this due to the fact that my camera doesn’t have film inside of it yet? I replaced the batteries. Any ideas of what the problem is?
