This is an Annular Solar Eclipse, a rare type of Eclipse where the Antumbra part of the shadow cast by the moon causes a "ring of fire" effect. These can only occur when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned in a New Moon & at its farthest point from the Earth (apogee). These occur every 1-2 years
