Dovetail Templates

I'm about to build wall-hanging tool cabinet using dovetail joinery and was wondering what your experience is with using dovetail templates vs just using a bevel gauge? From the very few dovetails I've cut i can see the value in having a set jig, but i'd rather not have to buy a few for different angles. Anyway, thoughts?
