Acetaldehyde and hangovers

It has been known for a while that alcohol is metabolised by the body into acetaldehyde and then acetic acid. And acetaldehyde is involved in causing hangovers.

That would suggest wines high in acetaldehyde (e.g. Fino Sherry) cause more severe hangovers, compared with wines with similar alcohol levels but lower acetaldehyde levels.

Does anyone know if there is any evidence for this effect?
