How do y’all feel about David Lynch’s involvement in transcendental meditation?

I really love twin peaks and Lynch’s work as a whole, and I generally have a lot of admiration for him as an artist. That being said, I’m not fond at all about his endorsement of transcendental meditation. The way I see it, TM is little more than a financial cult, as the prospect of a meditation method that can only be taught if you pay large sums of money is incredibly fishy to me. TM strikes me as pseudo spiritualist hoodoo, and as far as I can tell, all of its major proponents are rich Hollywood types playing on the aesthetic of eastern spirituality while simultaneously actually being deeply entrenched in western capitalism. I find it deeply disappointing that Lynch identifies himself so strongly with this group, has poured thousands into supporting it, and uses his platform to spread disinformation such as that it can give you powers. What do you guys think? Should we separate the art the from the artist? Is it even possible to do so?
