Puerto Maldonado, Peru advice for the Amazon
Hey everyone,
I'm travelling to Puerto Maldonado, Peru by myself at the end of April and I'm looking for some pointers for tours of the Amazon. A lot of reddit posts (which have been super helpful) have been in r/solotravel so thank you to everyone.
I’ve found some lodges that look pretty good, but it would be great to hear from people who recently stayed in the area.
I’m looking for tours to remote parts of the forest, if possible, rather than say “getting selfies”. I know some other countries might be better for this, but I think PM is really the only one that will work for me - I’m backpacking for the rest of the year.
If people could give an idea of itinerary and costs, it would be super helpful! I'm travelling alone for the rest of the year so trying to stay conscious of money!
From what I can gather, most people rock up to Cusco or PM and book a tour from there as it works out cheaper. If anyone has a different experience let me know!
Thank you everyone for your help in advance - I’ll be in PM around the end of April so hopefully I’ll be able to share some recommends then!
