1895 USD for domain? huh

Hi, I'm creating my second shopify store right now. I wanted to buy the domain and then a window pop upped which said "This domain is for sale: $1,895".. Well I'm definitely not buying this one😅 Unless my store makes me super rich..

The store will be worldwide, so what is the second best option for it? net? org? info?....?

And how does this work by the way? Someone bought this domain name and pais every month like 30 usd and just hopes someone will but it for almost 2000 usd?
