New and Interesting Rums Pt. 2!
I posted one of these a while back and figured I'd do it again since the first go-around sparked a nice conversation! These are a couple of recent-ish rum pick-ups that are new and interesting to me. I have a lot of re-buys like Doctor Bird, Hamilton Pot Still Black, Barbancort 110 Haitian Proof, and the like but these are new new ones not posted before.
My favorite out of the bunch is a tie between the Beenleigh and Rolling Fork Wisdom of Age (white). The Beenleigh I absolutely love; tastes like a mix of fruity Worthy Park and TCRL Mauritius. It's a delight.
The aforementioned Rolling Fork Wisdom of Age, for those unaware, is an unaged Hampden blend which is 80% LROK, 10% C<>H, and 10% DOK. It's fantastic. Great in a daiquiri especially.
The 8 year Hampden is good, not too funky but funky enough to be interesting and is damn good in a daiquiri. I prefer Rum Fire as the age tones this one down a bit if we're talking funky Jamaican rum.
The Hamilton 114 Navy Proof is a Guyana - Jamaica blend. It's fruity and funky with notes of pencil shavings and witch hazel which I seem to get from Guyana rums that are not Demerara. I dunno....lol hopefully someone else out there can relate.
The Rolling Fork 13 year Jamaica bottle is so good. An absolute unit of a sipper and perfection in a Rum Old Fashioned. Finished in Weller Barrels for the bourbon nerds out there.
The Papalin is a blend of Worthy Park and Hampden rums. It's not as funky and crazy as the blend might suggest but is very good in a Mai Tai but I didn't care for it in a daiquiri. I might have to revisit that.....
