Can Lizards grab spears?

I was just recently using the dev console mod and placed a blue lizard and a slug NPC with a spear in an arena. The fight went on as usual until the Slugcat apparently threw its spear at the blue lizard, and for some seconds, the lizard held the spear on its mouth! It was climbing a wall and I could clearly see the spear perpendicular to its mouth. Then, it did a quick head movement and “threw” the spear away. I searched everywhere and didn’t get any answers, so I went here.

I am just genuinely confused, I had never seen this before, is it even possible? Correct me if what I saw is wrong.
