Has anyone else also found in general people in Melbourne are friendlier than people in Sydney?

As someone in their 20s who’s lived in both and regularly flies between the cities. I can’t help but feel I’ve noticed in general there’s something about Melburnians, I find them friendlier or more open.

Trying to make new friends in Melbourne while in your 20s - oh yeah sure people smile a lot, don’t find you a burden, laid back, actually friendly. You could take up a hobby or a sport and people there would just be happy and chill and actually be keen to get to know you and make plans to see you outside of said hobby.

Trying to make new friends in Sydney while in your 20s, I’ve found once people are past the Uni stage of their lives, they’ve already settled with their high school and uni friends and most don’t ever want to branch out anymore. I don’t find Sydneysiders that laid back - and they’re very closed to making new friends. I sometimes just get the vibe of “life’s too busy” or “trying to make ends meet sucks and makes me grumpy”. Even when I took up sports or hobbies people I met there would still possible roadblock the possibility of an actual friendship.

Like idk it’s hard to explain in words and I do feel sorry if I’m generalising - and would like to make clear I’ve definitely met some not so nice people in Melbourne too - but overall my experience is Melburnians as a whole just come off as a friendlier than Sydneysiders? Anyone else feel the same?
