Is there a drastic difference between M4 Max 16/40 over 14/32?

I ordered the 14/32 but didn’t realize there was an option for extra cores. However, I see that option is at least $400 more without tax. I’m sure either max chip is likely overkill, I‘m just wondering if I’ll regret not taking the extra step for the top end. I know Apple‘s great at the price ladder, so I’m assuming that’s what’s happening to me right now.
