Does anyone else feel lonely in the city that never sleeps?
I moved to NYC a few months ago, chasing a dream like so many others. I thought being surrounded by millions of people would mean I’d never feel alone, but ironically, it’s been the opposite.
Between the crowded subways, endless skyscrapers, and late-night diners filled with strangers, I can't shake this sense of isolation. It feels like everyone has their own bubble—friends, routines, a life—and I’m just floating between them, invisible.
I miss meaningful conversations, laughter that doesn’t echo back from a screen, and the feeling of really belonging somewhere. Has anyone else felt this way?
If you’ve been through it, how did you find your people in this sprawling city? Any advice, stories, or even just solidarity would mean a lot right now.
P.S. If you’ve got recommendations for spots where it’s easier to meet people or events to check out, I’m all ears. Maybe we could even turn this thread into a mini support group for city loners?
