How do I smooth out a lumpy yard?

My backyard is primarily dirt at the moment. I want to put grass back there, but I'd really like it all to be pretty uniformly flat before doing that. I'm assuming it's sort of a till and rake kind of thing? Maybe 20'x60', so not a huge area.
