Advice needed.

Hi guys.. I live in Maharashtra and me and my group of friends were planning our first trip (preferring north and north west India) My question is "should we go for any packages offered by kesari or veena world or such travel agencies or book flights and hotels by ourselves and plan itinerary"... we are a group of 11 and were really having a debate over same... fellow experienced travellers please suggest what will be the best!..
