Alesis nitro mesh kit opinions

I've had the nitro mesh kit for 2 years and a half and i've felt is not that great of a kit cause it's been giving me some issues and things i don't like:

• The snare drum stopped working (it's the issue that the cables broke, i did solder them but this has happened twice.), i just switched one of the toms as the snare.
• Although I tightened the supports the one that goes to the snare keeps falling off after some time drumming.
• The glue that goes on the cymbals is starting to wear off and they make more noise.
• The samples on the kit are not that great (i don't really like them) and i always connect the kit to garageband for better samples.

I just want to know other opinions about the kit and maybe know if i could be on fault here. Maybe i'm hitting too hard or indeed the kit has some faults. I'm thinking about switching to roland but i would appreciate any brand/model recomendation. I bought the kit for about $400. I'm planning on maybe investing on something twice that price or a little less.
