Someone thought I was joking about British "creating" Hinduism. I was not. Here are actual scholarly links.
" Over the past decade, many scholars have put forward the claim that Hinduism was constructed, invented, or imagined by British scholars and colonial administrators in the nineteenth century and did not exist, in any meaningful sense, before this date. "

Summary:
Modern day Hinduism is one of the newest religions in existence, pieced together by colonial administrators mainly from folk religions, practices and customs of modern day northern India, or more accurately the Ganges region.
Because hindsight is such an awesome thing, it allowed them to cherry pick and engineer hinduism as a "mother religion" of everything that existed in the subcontinent.
Hind (and the name India for that matter) literally come from various bastardizations of the most ancient name in South Asia: Sindh.
Hind pertained loosely to a geographic region before the Brits arrived.
But let's take a moment to appreciate just how irrelevant modern day north Indians have been in history:
- They never had a name for themselves or their religion.
- They were only put on the map due to Mughal achievements.
- They wewuzz Central Asian Sanskrit, Pakistans Indus region and Nepals Buddhist heritage in order maintain the colonial era "origins" bs.
- British rulers created the "hindu identity" based on their own understanding of Abrahamic religions. As a result, a lot of concepts are entirely made up.
Considering all the above, its incredibly shameless to see these same people wewuzz everything that moves. This is why I have slightly more respect for South Indians. At least they have an identity, language, culture they can call their own.
TLDR:
Gangas are the laughing stock of the planet.
