I created a Map of the entire MNOG2 and noticed some things. (Link to the map in the Post)
The Map already takes 100MB, so here is the Link to the full Map, if you want to look at it in a better quality.
If I haven't miscounted (which I probably have) there are:
- 112 Images for Ga-Koro
- 50 Images for Onu Koro
- 39 Images for Ko-Koro
- 29 Images for Le-Koro
- 31 Images for Po-Koro
- 37 Images for Ta-Koro
- 13 Images for the Beach
- 15 for the Interior
It's probably not the official divions between the areas, but I thought like that it's a bit more ordered.
Now to what I noticed:
Even though I never really thought about it, the original creators did a pretty good job in making the places feel at the right place, even though there are some placed I geniunly lost my mind because I wasn't sure if it is North, East, South or West.
But in order. Everything starts in Ga-Koro. Because there is an Item (Map of Ga-Koro) it was pretty easy to puzzle Ga-Koro together, but the sheer amount of scenes and Notes really took some energy. I actually found an unused scene, that seems to have no place in the entire area.
Next Onu-Koro. Oh man. Such a nicely build Village, but you already notice some cut content. Many villagers still give you tasks you can complete, but sadly the tunnels to Ta-Koro and Po-koro never open. Another thing I noticed, where did the tunnel to Le-Koro dissappear? Was it destryoed with the Gahlok attack? And what is with the Ko-Koro tunnel from the Movies? Maybe the Ko-Koro tunnel wasn't even planned, because they didn't knew of it yet, because the movie asn't out/finished?
Ko-Koro, the first village that cost me brain power. Besides the strange orientation of the LevelB Layer being turned around 180° ("a 2D game in a 3D world" problem I would say.), the Wastes made me insane. Remember how you have to navigate through the ice storm with flags that dissappear after a while? Well not only that, but I learned after about 20 years that the maze is entirely randomly generated each time you are at the entrance or restart the game. And then I noticed there are not only entrance, the Hut where you can train and the ruins, no there is another exit where a deadend is with a charm. I couldn't remember it, because it's been way too long since I was there. Anyway I cheated and teleported myself to those areas. :)
Next is Le-Koro. Not much to say here. It was, as some players already criticised pretty lifeless. The same with Po-Koro.
Now to Ta-Koro. I'm not sure if I'm just bad with directions, and I could be wrong, but I think they turned the entire village around. In MNOG 1, you are on the east beach, and when you go to Ta-Koro in the south, you reach the gate, which was facing north or west, right? In this game, the big Main gate with the bridge (not the suspension bridge) was on the south side of the city and facing south? Vakamas Hut (or chamber in this game) is in the north.
Because of that, the beach technically is also not on the north of Ta-Koro, but is in the south and then goes to the east? Int the Mata Nui online game is Ga-Koro in the north, a bit more south comes the beach which is on the eastern side of Mata Nui and then a bit more South come Ta-Koro, or am I wrong?
I think it's the best if you look at it yourself on my map and tell me if I'm wrong or if original developers mixed it up a bit. I don't blame them, don't worry. I heard they were planning a lot more, but budget was cut and the game was too. I do have some plans, but who knows :)
Hope you like it.
