Career advice needed

Greetings all. I’m a 25 year old black woman from a lower socioeconomic background (Soweto). I managed to matriculate in 2016 with 6 distinctions and went on to obtain a BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry then Honors in Chemistry. I attempted to do my Masters in Oceanography. Quite frankly, I was miserable (if you’re familiar with academia ,you know how tough it can get) and ultimately, I dropped out. This has caused a dent in my confidence and also made me consider other options. I’m thinking of going back to school to pursue an engineering degree (chemical, mining or petrochemical), it seems like a viable option because not only is there more funding opportunities(bursaries and such), but it seems like a stable and reliable career path. Is it too late for me? Should I settle for being a lab technician with my degree? Does changing industries make sense? I’d really appreciate any feedback. I desperately need an outside perspective.
