[S2 Spoilers] Arcane Ending was underwhelming

While I enjoyed the entirety of Arcane's Season 2, I felt underwhelmed by how it ended.

I've avoided all social media apps until finishing the series. Now that I have finished it, I've been exposed to theories of Jinx potentially surviving her "sacrifice." If that is the case, the decision to leave her demise ambiguous was a poor choice. They should have removed the scenes and hints of her potentially surviving after her sacrifice, and made it clear that she did not survive.

Firstly, I feel frustrated when a character I love or have grown attached to is given an indecisive ending. Allowing Jinx to survive would diminish the impact and meaning of her sacrifice. Instead of delivering a decisive and emotional conclusion to her arc, the story left me in a state of emotional limbo and feeling disconnected with her end. Confirming her death would have honored her sacrifice and provided a definitive conclusion, respecting her heroism and maximizing its emotional weight.

Secondly, none of the "good" main characters truly die throughout the show. While I understand the story was building toward a climactic battle, it missed an opportunity for a deeply emotional ending. Killing off some main characters would have emphasized the stakes, showing the real risks involved. In high-stakes situations, the constant survival of main characters can feel unrealistic, unnecessarily prolong their arcs, and overuses plot armor. Losing a fight or making a major mistake loses significance if the characters always survive. When done well, the death of a main character adds real stakes and emotional depth to the overall narrative.

Lastly, the pacing of the final act—perhaps even the entire second season—felt rushed. Some fights could have been more impactful and emotional, while certain scenes, particularly between Caitlyn and Vi, felt out of place. However, since this is primarily about Jinx's death, I won't be getting into those.

TLDR: Amazing series. Seasons two was still great but the ending was underwhelming. 6/10 for Act III.
