Trip Report! Taking someone whose never been to USH

My husband and I decided to go to USH yesterday to celebrate his birthday. We are pass holders so we usually don't go all day because we can always come back and do what we missed later. We live pretty close so it's not an issue to make multiple trips. I've even gone by myself once, got there at opening and did what I wanted until I got warm and then went home.

Things were different this time. We decided to invite my little brother. He is 14 and about to start high school. He has never been to USH. He is very interested in filmmaking - his junior high school offered classes or a club or something, I'm not sure, but I do know he's been involved with filmmaking since he started going to this school.

ANYWAY, maybe I don't understand this so well because I don't have kids of my own, but being able to take my little bro who had never been was absolutely magical! He had so much fun! Instead of peacing out early, we made sure he got on to every single ride. And we watched the Waterworld show, which he also loved and wants to see the movie now, haha. Luckily, since it was a Tuesday, it wasn't very busy and we were able to fit everything in including shopping and still leave before the park closed for the evening. The only ride we really had a long wait was Simpsons, and guest services was kind enough to give us one ride pass (I'll include that story below, too) so we used it to skip the line there. My little bro got to do everything and had such a blast, it was definitely worth the extra time and getting home late and my sore back and feet I have today (I'm more than old enough to be my brother's mom, so I don't bounce back from a big trip like I used to, lol).

If you get the chance, take someone whose never been. Someone a little older who can appreciate the trip and understand what they're seeing. It's so worth it and makes the trip so much more enjoyable!

BONUS STORY As far as the ride pass, I had to go to guest services when we got there because my mom and I both bought my little bro a ticket online. My mom never does anything on the internet, so I had wrongly assumed she wouldn't purchase a ticket online. Luckily they were very understanding and refunded the extra ticket. While we were in there I heard someone ask about birthday pins. I didn't know USH did these! So since we were there for my husband's birthday I got a pin for him, and they also have first visit pins so I got one of those for my bro. My husband and bro have the same name (I know kinda weird and gross but in my defense I was dating my husband for 5 years before bro was born) so I explained they were both for "this name" but they were different people and, well, the guy helping us also had the same name! So I think that influenced him to give us that ride pass to skip the line lol!

Anyway just wanted to share my experience yesterday. It was a great day for everyone. My husband got to do everything he wanted for his birthday (including picked our lunch/dinner), my little bro got to take in all of USH for his 1st visit, and as for me? I got to get my picture with my all time favorite Beetlejuice before we left!
