Sezane vs Petite Mendigote...?
Half rant/half warning, I hope me posting this here is OK!
I often see Petite Mendigote mentioned as an alternative for Sezane, and I get why. Their stuff looks cute and stylish on their website. I ordered a blouse from them in the sale about two years ago, and I thought it was OK - lovely design but very cheap looking plastic buttons, definitely not worth the original price.
This season I ended up ordering their Josepha midi skirt for the full price, €141. Pricy for sure, but it looked really nice and none the A/W skirts Sezane has recently released work for me.
Well, it arrived today, and I have to laugh. It both looks and feels like I'm wearing a plastic bag. Really cheap looking material, super thin for an A/W item, deeply unflattering. It's more of a brownish colour than the deep burgundy depicted on the website. In addition, PT doesn't offer free or easy returns, so it will be a hassle to get my money back.
People complain a lot about Sezane being on the decline, and that's fair! But compared to this, every Sezane item I've recently tried on was amazing quality. I really don't think the brands are in any way comparable.
Tl;dr: do not waste your money on Petite Mendigote.
Would love to hear if people have different experiences though!
