Stepping outside my comfort zone
I am doing something big! I'm a nurse with almost 25 years of experience and have a great desire to share what I've learned about caregiving. I started wrtiting a book and realized that I have a lot of great information documented and I don't need to wait until my book is finished. Impusively, I called the local library and scheduled 2 nights (a week apart) and began inviting caregivers with all levels of experience to hear what I have to say. I do a bit of public speaking in my "day job" but this is a bit different. I want to convey the authentic urge to help others, be intentional about topics and content that is not emotionally overwhelming, give some but not all of the information I possess, and highlight the importance of self care when caring for others. I am nervous and am fending off fears left and right. I know that the information I am sharing has the potential to help lots of folks navigate healthcare and improve quality and safety of in home care.
