Concern about gender markers and name changes following Trump's Executive Orders.

Hello! I recently became an adult, and I am iffy about whether or not I should apply for a passport as a transgender U.S. citizen. I'm scrambling to set myself up for every opportunity I can before it is too late, especially in light of recent executive orders. That being said, I have a couple of questions for y'all!

  1. I currently do not have any documents that differ from my assigned gender at birth, both regarding my legal name and gender markers. I am under the impression that Trump's E.O. will not have an effect until about 60ish days from now, which leaves me wondering if there is still time to self-attest my gender marker if I have my passport expedited after filling out a DS-11 and booking an appointment.

  2. With that being said, I'm aware of the recent update on this matter reported on by Notus. I'm left wondering if it's worth it to go through the effort of getting my proper marker, just to have it potentially revoked when I go to update my legal name in the proceeding months afterwards. Is this a reasonable concern to have? Would anyone even be able to give a concrete answer on what would happen after renewing my passport the second time with my new name with the information we currently have?

Thank you all so much for your time!
