Jingle bells

This post will absolutely out me to anyone who works at my store (hey gang) but I'm on my last shift with this woman before we close for Christmas and I'm at my limit.

It's a small thing, but one of the things I loved about working replenishment was my quiet mornings. I'd keep an earbud in, listen to music, and just enjoy the nearly empty store while I did SISO. Well recently, as of a couple months ago, my manager had me and the other person on replen train one of our coworkers on SISO and adset. Sure, fine, no worries. Except as soon as the holidays rolled around ? Jingle bells

Now I'm someone who was in band for several years, and now works in theatre, I've worked my fair share of Christmas shows and parades, I'm used to jingle bells. But this woman's taken to tying bells to her shoelaces, which means Every Step She Takes: jingle jingle jingle. And we're a small store, this sound carries and you will hear it unless you're literally across the store in another room.

And shes been scheduled every single morning shift outside of weekends, so peaceful shifts now have an underscoring of bells. Every. Day.

There's a slew of reasons I'm actively looking for another job to start the new year, but lord if this hasn't been one of dozens of nails in the coffin bc I've developed an instinctual, visceral anger everytime I hear bells, even when someone else is wearing them, it drives me up a Wall

Anyways, lesson of the day: if you don't want half of the staff in your store to despise you, don't wear bells on your shoes for over a month when you work the majority of mornings 😃
