My representative at my local Mazda Service Center said topping off oil every 1000 miles is normal for CX-5 turbo 2019 (50k miles)
Is this correct? My car didn't burn oil before but now the light turns on after a couple months of driving (about 1000 miles). We confirmed there's not a leak, and there's black grime in the tailpipe and the oil looked dark brown before they refilled it.
The service rep at my dealership said that can be normal for turbo engines. I have about 50k miles on my car. It is a 2019 and doesn't fall under the recall for the 2021's that burn oil.
The dealership said I need to go in every 1000 miles to them the next 3000 miles, and if I can prove my car is burning sufficient oil, they will look into it. I think they said I need to burn at least quart or something.
EDIT: After leaving the dealership, I noticed they filled the oil past the second hole (which is past the max according to my manual), and halfway between the second hole and the part of the stick where it twists. Are they even able to measure how much the oil has gone down accurately or will this underestimate because they are overfilling it? Is this bad for the car?
