Can we take a minute to appreciate the voice acting in Meguca?
For those who don't know, "Meguca" is a fandub of a serires of 4chan threads that summarize Puella Magi Madoka Magica (the original anime) in a comedic manner. Haven't watched it? Watch it.
I wanted to take a moment to appreciate how good the voice acting in it is. Yes, the voices are incredibly silly, but that doesn't detract from how good the acotrs are at putting feeling into them - in fact, I'd argue it only makes it more impressive.
There is not a single wooden delivery throughout Meguca. I mean, can you imagine how much effort it'd take to deliver "meguca forbideneded" the way Meduka's VA does? They managed to keep up Meduka's silly voice, convey the sadness and stress that Madoka would be feeling during that scene, and deliver that line with a straight face. I'm not sure how well I could do even one of those!
That's just one example of a line in Meguca where this applies - the whole video is full of them! I wonder how many tries it took to perfect those voices...
I'm also really fond of the voice switches Hameru and Meduka do. The contrast they pull of with those is really impressive - especially with how Meduka's apotheosis makes her sound like a normal anime girl. It's symbolic probably.
Anyway yeah I think we kind of take this goofy meme video for granted, and forget how cool it is, or something.
