Disappointed with the 6xx, are there any good alternatives around the price point?
I recently got a pair of hd6xxs and while I really like the comfort of them (after they stretched out a little) the sound signature just isn't for me I think. They sound sort of cramped and the lack of bass/sub-bass doesn't work for me, there also isn't really any "punchiness" in the bass. And they don't have a big sound stage or a ton of detail to make up for these issues. I do like the mids and stuff in them and get why people like them, but they're not for me.
I previously also tried the edition xs and ft1 pro, with the edition xs sounding great, but the comfort was miserable for me, and they were incredibly wobbly and gave me headaches, the ft1 pro was a little better in terms of comfort but still not great. I've also been using the kiwiears quintet as my iems for a while before I got the 6xx and I really enjoy them so something like that sound signature would be preferred I think.
The genres i listen to the most are more modern hip-hop stuff with a good amount of rock and some pop stuff thrown in I also like to try out new genres a bunch so versatility is definitely a big plus. Some artists examples: Tyler the creator, Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz, cage the elephant, JPEGMAFIA, magdelina bay.
For my budget I'd prefer to go under 300$ but if there's something that seems like it'd fit my preferences very well or is generally really good I could go up to around 400$. Both open and closed back are ok, open back probably slightly preferred since I've heard of generally more good options with those and I don't like sweaty ears, but closed is fine also. I'd definitely need something with good comfort also. Is there anything around this price range as a good alternative or should I just stick with my iems for a while and wait for something new to come out or for a good deal?
Thanks in advance and sorry if I phrased anything poorly or if this is too long I'd be happy to give clarification!
