Holding both UK and Spanish driver's licences.

I've recently done the canje process to get my Spanish driver's licence.
I moved to Spain about 6 months ago.
I have to visit the UK at the end of this month for family reasons and will need to drive.
It's unlikely my licence will arrive in time. All I have is the Autorización temporal now. My UK licence expires in March and of course they took it in Spain.

I know technically you must be a resident of a country to have a licence and can only have one. However has anyone actually done it temporarily?

I feel like I'm in a grey zone in the first year emigrating because I've got residence in Spain (Spouse of EU citizen), but I'm still technically a tax resident of the UK.

So I'm wondering if I should apply for a UK licence so I'm legal to drive in the UK this year.
Will the DVLA actually see I've exchanged in Spain and refuse?
