Housesitting nights, weekends, holidays with no overtime pay
Y'all I'm burnt out! I'm a PA/EA and am a salaried employee for a public figure. I've been there nearly a year and have not taken a single day off yet. My agreement is very vague so there is nothing that outlines specific PTO or sick days, I get no benefits, etc. My boss is constantly traveling and so when they do, I have to stay at their house and do housekeeping duties like laundry, putting clothes away, changing sheets, dog sitting their very sick elderly dog, taking the trash out, etc.
My boss travels so much that I calculated that I've stayed at their house for cumulatively 5 months. And that is working nights, weekends and holidays. I worked there over Summer, Thanksgiving, 3 weeks for the Holidays and New Years and couldn't take time to see my family, I was there 3 different times during January, it's A LOT. And their dog is constantly getting up in the middle of the night so I'm working overnight basically and getting horrible sleep when I'm there.
Because I'm salaried, none of this is reflected in overtime pay and I also don't get any extra time off. So if I work a weekend housesitting, I'm still expected to work on Monday with no makeup days off to offset the weekend. I basically take home about $5k a month with taxes and I'm so exhausted and my boss has been lashing out at me lately and seems to have no appreciation that I'm working 24/7 and sacrificing my holidays to be there and take care of everything for them.
I want to have a conversation with them about this but I have such PTSD from working with other public figure bosses who just don't give an F about their employees and don't want to pay for anything. I haven't even sent my expense reports yet since I've been working for them because they never want to spend money on anything so I'm basically just paying for things out of pocket. I'm also using all my own tools like my own computer, my own phone, my own car for work related tasks and getting nothing reimbursed.
Wanted to get advice if you guys thought it was worth having a conversation to see if they would pay any overtime or offer makeup weekend days or if I should just start looking for another job, especially since the market is so rough right now. I'm basically doing 75% housekeeping work and I'm not even able to save any money so it's like I'm slaving away for no reason.
