Those of you who had had dogs with kidney failure, when did you decide to call it? UPDATE
I took my little man to the vet today for a quality of life conversation.
They rechecked his kidney levels and they had doubled since Monday. One kidney was really small, the other was normal sized. The vet believes that the normal kidney had been doing double duty for some time and was now failing beyond repair. She said that a flush would only prolong his life by a few days, and recommended euthanasia.
As today had been progressing, he was declining very quickly and was longer willing to lick peanut butter or drink water.
So, my sweet little man crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. Thank you everyone for your advice and kind words.
Here he is, the sweet man enjoying some sun on his face before we left for the vet. I’m glad he got to enjoy the sun one more time.
