Pathao courier went MIA with my PS5

For context, I live in Germany and I had a PS5 back home, which I barely ever used (but I would still emphasize that it had some sentimental value). Since the device was simply catching dust on a desk, I thought of giving it away to a friend of mine, who was elated over the thought of a free PS5. I was glad that someone would finally properly use what I have always desired to own.

Earlier today, I asked a friend to order a Pathao courier for my console to be delivered to the other friend’s residence (the other friend was too lazy to travel to my house to pick it up himself). Apparently, the rider accepted the request and rode to the sender’s location, retrieved the product, and then, a few minutes later, canceled the order and went completely MIA. His phone appeared switched off for a while (according to the multitude of people whom I had call him), but now his SIM card’s probably live because outgoing calls to him lead to the “busy” dialogue. As of now, it’s been an hour, but no leads thus far. I can only do so much from a whole continent away.

Regardless, we have his phone number and the nickname he used on Pathao. I write this to ask for advice about what I can do next. I am upset because it was a prized possession, something I always desired to own. However, it doesn’t affect me much other than emotionally because I wasn’t going to use it anymore anyway.

Nevertheless, please offer me your wisdom and guidance, I would really appreciate it.

A while ago I received confirmation from a friend that the parcel has been recovered thanks to the police department and you all. I don’t know the precise details surrounding the recovery yet, but I’m just really glad it was found. Nevertheless, I extend my utmost gratitude to everyone here who supported me in ways that I couldn’t have imagined nor could I have pursued in any way. I received DMs from a plethora of people here, all willing to utilize their own connections and ideas to assist me in whatever ways possible. Pathao noticed all the messages, requests, social media posts, etc. and called my friend earlier today in response. Although, the conversation with them was still ambiguous, they reassured they were still looking into it. Regardless, the situation is now resolved and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of you guys. Thanks again.

Apparently, someone, probably the culprit or maybe an accomplice of his, came back and handed the guard of the original sender’s residence the parcel and asked it to be returned to the sender before disappearing without a trace. Maybe he found out about the police report, or maybe everyone’s contributions here pressured him to give up. Either way, these are speculations and my friends plan on digging deeper to locate him in the hopes of preventing any similar offenses in the future.

I don’t completely hold Pathao accountable for the unfortunate incident, rather just the culprit himself. Truth be told, Pathao has been incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. I hardly was expecting prompt responses from their end, but I must say I was surprised. Even the receiver acknowledged that Pathao contacted him multiple times both to receive and to pass any form of updates regarding the situation. Again, thanks to you all for spreading the details like wildfire, resulting in them noticing and branding the situation as an emergency.
