Seeking inputs!

Hey Everyone! I recently found this awesome sub and have already learned so much. I will be graduating soon and currently talking to prospective employers.

I came across an employer, who is offering the higher of 750$ daily guarantee indefinitely or 30% of collections, with additional retention bonus at the end of every year. 30% lab fee and no benefits.

The office is decent, has more than enough active patients to support an additional associate and the employer is pretty transparent with most things (to an extent, blunt) but I appreciate that.

However, the employer is adamant that I will be paid as a 1099 IC and not as a W2 employee. I read up about how a general dentist cannot be classified as a 1099 IC but the employer wouldn’t budge.

I kind of understand that I will have to pay additional share of FICA taxes and the headache of doing taxes by yourself, however, I feel that I am not truly comprehending the consequences of being a 1099 IC.

What other things do I need to consider?

I am also currently looking up Dental CPAs and attorneys to help me navigate the nuances but would appreciate your thoughts from self-experience!

Thank you for your time! Happy Holidays!
