My Audi saved my life. I'll never buy anything other than Audi again.
Sunday night, we were driving home from the Texas Renaissance Festival when a deer had a death wish. It was pitch black, no light but my headlights and it was too late by the time I saw it. Speed limit was 70, which is what I was going at the time. Both front airbags deployed, so my insurance is telling me it's likely a total loss but I'm still waiting for the estimate to come back.
I've seen deer hits on cars/suvs and it's always totally fucked. My car actually doesn't look that bad, and I walked away with some arm scrapes/bruises, and a bit of wrist & hip pain. Otherwise, perfectly fine.
I've never been in an accident where the bags deployed, so I didn't expect my car to brake for me and move me over to the side of the road (is that typical? Or did I get lucky? Because I didn't have time to hit the brakes or turn my wheel once the impact happened) and put on my hazards for me. The seat belt tightened so tight I couldn't breathe, but it prevented me from hitting the airbag as well. I'm just still in shock at how well it all went. It could've been so much worse.
I loved that car so much. RIP SQ5
