2 month long exacerbation from URI

hello!! i have been lurking on here for a while so thought I would make a post to ask for some advice!

I am 21,f, have had pretty controlled asthma for the last 3 years (with low dosage of advair, montelukast, and zytec). recently (around sept) it started to act up with all of the wildfires in my area and just living in an old dusty building (I have an air purifier and clean my bedsheets and fabrics weekly!). just when I upped my advair to try and get my asthma back fully controlled, I got a cold. After a few days of having breathing issues, I went to the ER and was given a IV of dexamethasone despite my lungs sounding clear and a clear x-ray. a week later I was told I had walking pneumonia. I then received a week burst of 40 prednisone and antibiotics. I was doing better (although dealing with some nasty prednisone side affects) but then caught a cold from an ER visit related to the side effects.

I gave it a week for that to try and get better but was then given anti biotics. I went home for Christmas break, but my family has carpet and for 2 weeks I was dealing with a bad reaction to the dust while my lungs were still healing from the URI. I was given a Medrol (I think this Is the right name for the 26mg taper pack) of prednisone. Right when I started to feel better ( only having to use my nebulizer once a day), I come back from break and catch another cold from my partner and am down for two weeks. during that two weeks, I am given a 3 day z pack and am on prednisone 40 mg for 5 days. And then I catch ANOTHER cold right as I am supposed to go back to school, setting me back by a week with school.

TLDR: I have had 4 back to back URI and they each take me at least 2 weeks to get better from but the inflammation ( mild. they found on my x-ray) has been the result of all of this and is leaving me breathless and sometimes a bit bedridden.

I take advair 500 now (as changed by my pulmonologist), zyrtec and flonase, montelukast, and as need albuterol or duoneb. I am on another round of prednisone to see if we can knock out the inflammation while I am currently not experiencing a cold (masking up like crazy). But I am so defeated by all of this. Ive never had a flare up last this long. They are the worst from URI, but this has been the worst one yet. My life is just being put on halt and I am in my last year of college working on my thesis so its tough. Hopefully this last bit of prednisone helps, but I just got back to my dorm and even the bit of dust from not being here for a while is setting me back a bit. hopefully I can go back to feeling normal soon. and even when this all gets better, how do I not fall down this awful rabbit whole when I get sick again? how to I rebuild my immune system and lung function and how long does that take?

Has anyone else dealt with this?
