Is it common to give a thankyou gift to neighbours for trimming their trees?
(I'm not talking about who have to cut the tree - just purely about the etiquette)
A few yrs ago, my neighbour (I'd call "A") had tree branches got into my area, so I reached out to ask if I could trim them myself. Instead, he offered to come over and actually did it himself, and I assisted him.
In a similar situation with another neighbour ('B'), but reversed, one of my trees went over into that neighbour's area so they asked me if I could cut it so I did it. They later gave me some food. They didn't say anything about the trimming when giving the food to us, but this made me wonder if I should have done the same for neighbour A. how about that?
Now, the branches from A’s property have grown back, and when I reached out again to ask if it's okay to do it myself, and he told me I could go ahead by myself this time. No problem, I'd like to do it by myself more, but.
Is it usual to give something (food etc) as thanks for this situation? I don’t want to seem rude to my neighbours, so I’d like to ask. We don’t have any other personal interactions with them.
