Vacation hunting?

We are taking a vacation at the end of April very close to Outer Banks and Kitty hawk, North Carolina. Right on the ocean but in a lesser populated or tourist heavy area. Has anyone had any luck finding artifacts beach walking? Or in this area in particular? Thanks.
