Calendar and Reminder Complications suck or I'm stupid?

Is there a way to get the Calendar complication to show your next event/reminder.

Examples: with the Calendar complication it only ever says 'your day is clear', wouldn't it be more useful to say 'Tomorrow X event'.

Same with the Reminders. It only shows 'Due Today'. Why can't it just list all your reminders?

I've googled and seen some people have used shortcuts/automator to help but I can't work it out.Thanks.

I use Focus to switch between two Modular face setups - work and personal.
What would be amazing is if the Reminders complication would let you choose a Reminders List to display. That way I could have my work reminders automatically show on the watch face, and same for the personal ones. It seems like you can only display 'scheduled' reminders. Which to me aren't reminders, a 'scheduled reminder' sounds like it should just be a calendar event.
Reminders are things I can do any time, which is why I use the Lists.
