Mentioning a poor grade on the subject I'm applying for on PS - yes or no?
I'm an American applying to universities in England for computer science, and I'm finalizing my personal statement and need some help with one thing. I took 7 AICE classes (American equivalent of A levels) at the AS level, including Computer Science, but I got a C on the exam because my teacher was horrible and I basically self studied the entire textbook and crammed for it in 1 week. I got As on everything else (Sociology, English Lang, General Papers, Global Perspectives) except for Marine Science (B) and Media Studies (C, same thing, bad teacher, didn't know what/how to self study in 2 weeks).
While I meet the qualifications for American applicants, I'm unsure if I should mention the C in my personal statement. I did add it to UCAS as a qualification, so the universities will see it, but I'm discussing the AICE Computer Science class and how it broadened my knowledge in my PS. I spend a paragraph on that, but idk if I should address the C or leave it out. I feel like mentioning it could come off as blaming my teacher (who didn't prepare us well), but if I don't, admissions officers might think I wasn't capable and it'll look bad because I did so well on the other exams.
Here's what I was going to say if I do mention it: " I further pursued this growing interest by taking AICE Computer Science (at the AS level). I didn’t perform as well on the exam as I’d liked to have due to my teacher’s ill-preparation/ I didn't perform too well on this exam due to some other reason..., but I found the class content extremely interesting. When compared to AP Computer Science Principles, AICE had a broader scope..... blah blah".
Any advice? How badly would it affect my chances of getting in? I'm pretty much only applying to unis in England so that's why I'm so stressed about this
