Balancing and ski control exercises?

Last week I went skiing with my own (classic) setup for the first time and I had a blast (only did it twice before, 2 years ago). This week I wanted to do it over, but it turns out I did a better job waxing this week, as my ski's were super slippery and I had 0 control over my skis, and fell quite hard with even the slighest downhill (5%). I gotta say, my balance isn't the best to start with.

What should I do train both balance and getting control over my skis (ankle-wise)? I guess I should just look up balancing and ankle exercises, but are there some skiing-specific exercises I should be aware of?
