How can i create a magic school without copying Harry Potter?

I've made a lot of things that aren't really related to Harry Potter, however i haven't really went into detail about the school. Some features i really want to add are houses, dark magic/evil wizards, and the whole "shopping" thing that happens in the first book, where students get their books, wands, robes, ect. I'm also not sure how the students will get there, because i don't want to copy the letter/train thing, and just being dropped off by their parents seems a little boring. So far i know that the school is in sweden, and it's more outside than hogwarts. The campus consists of 4 buildings with a few classrooms in them, I am not sure how many there will be. Any help is appreciated, ty :)
