Sanding outside, wearing 3M half face with P100 cartridge, fit checked… still coughing
I’m at my wits end and I’m not really sure what to do. I am sanding with an orbital and belt sander outside, on the driveway. Today I decided to prep some old growth cedar, and some old yew… so I was caution maxing.
I changed my clothing after coming indoors (I wear plastic pants/jacket over my clothing, but put everything in the wash after a sanding session). Maybe I need to be wearing gloves??? Is it an allergies thing? I wore gloves working with the yew but not the cedar.
I do wash my hands before coming indoors, and immediately after I stop working.
Do I need to wash my hair too? I put it up & wear a hood while working.
thanks I feel like I’m losing my mind but I don’t want to ruin my lungs.
Edit: I am so grateful for everyone’s input here — it seemed to be an allergy thing (took Allegra and stopped feeling horrible later that evening) so I’m not going to work with cedar/etc going forward.
Me and maple ride and not die forever I guess. I will save up for a dust collection system as well, I was misinformed that outside + mask and body covering was sufficient.
thank you all again for your time and expertise, seriously, <3
