High cost of wood stoves

I just received two quotes for fireplace inserts. Wow! The cost took me by surprise. $10k buys a whole lot of heating oil! I’m finding it hard to justify spending that much to only offset the cost of oil. It’s seems I’ll never see a return on investment at that cost.
