Need advice: Struggling to land PM interviews after second layoff 😔

Hey all,

I’m looking for advice on how to get interviews for Product Manager roles. This is my second layoff in two years, and it's been rough. A little background about me:

  • I’m based in the USA.
  • Did my undergrad at an Ivy League.
  • Spent the last two years as an APM after joining an RPM program right after college.
  • Currently aiming for PM roles requiring ~2 years of experience.

Right now, I’m mostly applying on LinkedIn but rarely hearing back. I try to get referrals, but a lot of people don’t respond, so most of my applications are direct. I’ve been seeing mixed advice—apply early to big companies, use referrals for smaller ones, reach out to recruiters, etc.—and I’m not sure what actually works best.

My family is in a tough financial spot, so I need a job, ideally remote (but I’m flexible). If anyone can share advice, success strategies, or even look at my resume (been told it’s good), I’d be super grateful.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

TL;DR: Laid off twice in 2 years, 2 years of APM experience, Ivy League grad, struggling to get PM interviews despite applying on LinkedIn and trying for referrals. Need a job ASAP (preferably remote) due to family financial issues. Seeking advice on the best strategies to land interviews or if anyone can review my resume.
