A conservative’s view

I loved wicked - This isnt a culture war analysis, but analysis of how I personally perceive the film on an (X,Y) of freedom-institution / progress-tradition.

  1. College Institutions - promote Bowen's (his line: I don't see color) society that virtue signals && enables elitism / hateful and blind followers.
  2. Celebrity of Glenda - power of influence is still power / good individual in a broken society / grace in her actions.
  3. OZ, the "deep state" of power && projection of fear / anointment of successors to bring about industrial society.

  4. Charming Prince - seeking meaning&&free of normalcy / personification of individualism and freedom.

  5. Wrath of Elphaba - independent thinker&&activist/destroying society for the sake of truth/ wrath of god

  6. Animals are scapegoats, denied of god given rights && represent agrarianism. personification of race, freedom of speech.

As individuals, Glenda's and Elphaba's are still friends & work towards Good even though they are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Even Glenda is shaking and afraid ( she's composed the entire film ) of Wizard and the Dean who control an oppressive society that created progress and peace- but is anointed and is working towards the collective peace and progress of OZ.

Elphaba is emotionally charged the entire film and is now in control leading her to the path of abolition (they were considered domestic terrorists to southern states) and hastens the demise of what she protects.
