Restaurant wedding DC area

I live in the DC area and am playing with the idea of doing a ceremony and reception at a local restaurant. Has anyone had their wedding at a restaurant that doesn’t typically “do” weddings? How did you approach the topic? What challenges did you face? Do you have any advice?

There are a few local restaurants that host weddings on a fairly regular basis and I can’t help but feeling like their food and beverage minimums are really high - I’m wondering if it’s partially because these restaurants are known for having weddings. I’d like to expand my search but trying to figure out the best way to do so. We’re looking at a guest list of around 100 people.
