Devastated by a Bridal "scam"
I recently attended a bridal expo where I DID fill out a sweepstakes form. Fast-forward to today when I get the call saying I won the Grand Prize! A trip to Orlando bookended by a cruise to the Caribbean! My fiancee and I were elated until everything started to unravel. They wantes $498 for registration? Okay... We had to sign up today? Okay... Can we have a day to discuss? No. WHAT?! We immediately felt scammed after 45 minutes of them telling us all the free stuff we got. I know that it was too good to be true but how can this company, Vacation Offer, keep doing this to Brides??? When I challenged them on the phone a few times, eventually they said "You know, bridal expo wouldn't allow us to come if we weren't reputable." And it really got me thinking about how true that statement really is and how long they've been doing this. I'm not saying my life was ruined by this by any means but it is pretty devastating to hear that you might get a honeymoon that you couldn't previously afford, just to have your dreams dashed away just as quickly.
Edit: I also want to add that we never paid and so therefore we never got a chance to be scammed. However, one of the things that made us apprehensive were the other things we saw online from people who actually did pay and try to use their services. That's what scared us.
