Pitmaster iq 110 on the kettle experiment..
Hi guys, I'm new here. I recently bought a used kettle on Marketplace for $25, only to discover the bottom vents were slightly rusted and air would leak through, causing temperature control issues. Temperatures would get too high, even when fully closed. Instead of getting rid of it, I looked for temperature controllers and found a used Pitmaster IQ 110 on eBay. It was inexpensive and only needed an adapter from the Pitmaster website. I modified my kettle by drilling a hole for the adapter and covering the bottom vents with aluminum tape. I did a test run with a large water pan since I didn't have any meat to smoke. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked and held temps within about 10-15 degrees of 250 for 8 hours until I turned it off since it was almost out of fuel. Can't wait to try some ribs or porkbutt on this thing.
