Scratched messages in the middle of vinyl

Im completely new to vinyl and Ive noticed that a lot of vinyl have scratched messages in the middle. Like some random numbers or actual words. What is the purpose? How does it happen? If i see it on some vinyl, does every copy of that album have it? Is it rare?
